In the novel village by the sea , my favourite scene was when Hari has decided to learn watch-mending from Mr Panwallah.
I like this part because initially , Hari had no hope of earning money for his family or even learning any useful skills .However Mr Panwallah has kindly offered to teach Hari how to man the watches. When i was reading this part of VBTS ,i felt hope for Hari and Lila .He learnt not only about watch mending from Mr Panwallah , he also learnt the meaning of life and family . This inspired him to start up a business back in Thul.
I suppose without the help of Mr Panwallah, Hari would not have become so optimistic about the future because at that point of time before meeting the former, he had a very terrible life and could barely get pass with his low-salary job at the diner. Mr Panwallah in this aspect could also be his benefactor.

Well this part of the story is not especially attractive to me. The word length looks enough to me, but do add more details.
